Fajr Int’l Festival names films for competition section

The secretary of 35th Fajr Film Festival names the 28 films for competition section.

The secretary of the 35th edition of the Fajr Film Festival has named 28 movies that will compete at the main competition section of the event.

The event secretary Mohammad Heidari named 44 films on January 6 to be screened at the national section of the most important Iranian cinema event of the year; while 28 of them will vie for the Crystal Simorgh.

The films by Manouchehr Hadi, Roghiyeh Tavakkoli, Morteza Ali Abbas Mirzaei, Mohsen Qaraei-Moqaddam, Mostafa Soltani, Masoud Atyabi, Monir Qeidi, Saeed Soheili, Mehdi Karampour, Ali Nouri-Oskouei, Hamid Nematollah, Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, Vahid Jalilvand, Pouran Derakhshandeh, Masoud Jafari-Jozani, Masoud Kimiaee, Mohammad-Reza Kheradmandan, Alireza Davoudnejad and Mahmoud Ghaffari are among this year’s racers.

The list also includes ‘Hot Summer’ by Ebrahim Irajzad, ‘Suffocation’ by Fereydoun Jeyrani, ‘Azar’ by Mohammad Hamzei, ‘Sara and Ida’ by Maziar Miri, ‘Israfil’ by Ida Panahandeh, ‘Human Comedy’ by Mohammad-Hadi Karimi, ‘A Special Day’ by Homayoun Asadian, ‘Negar’ by Rambod Javan, and ‘Italy Italy’ by Kaveh Sabbaghzadeh.

The 28 movies have been qualified by the jury after 45 days of hard work, he said during a press conference at Cinema Museum in Tehran.

This edition of Fajr Film Festival is slated to begin on January 31 and will continue for ten days.

Established in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
